Happy 1st Birthday Gmail!

from Gmail.com
A Google approach to math.

On the eve of Gmail's one-year birthday, our engineers were toiling away furiously. Notes scribbled all over the walls. Complex calculations on napkins and empty pizza boxes. Millions of M&Ms.

The result?... starting today, we're beginning the roll-out of their new and top secret Infinity+1 storage plan. The key features are:

  • Write, don't worry.
You want to stop caring about storage. We want to keep giving you more. Today, and beyond.

  • The gift that keeps on giving.
2 gigabytes of storage (and counting) for every user.

  • No complicated equations. No tough algorithms.
    Just this one graph:

PLUS, Gmail's not in the plains anymore
Fonts, bullets and highlighting, oh my! Gmail now offers rich text formatting. And over 60 colors of the rainbow. Discover a land of more than just black and white. Learn more

Gmail Tab for MSN Messenger

My MSN Messenger now spots a Gmail tab. Great since i no longer have to fire up Firefox (and since that messenger prog is the only prg that's always loaded whether you like it or not) Posted by Hello

Another cool app for Gmail- this one allows you to preview a picture w/o opening it. Problem is, it's only for I.E. (for now i hope) Posted by Hello

Another good news- Gmail's POP3 fowarding feature is now out. Too bad I don't have my PDA ... Posted by Hello

Hotmail Upgrade

Microsoft has so kindly upgraded my Hotmail email storage from a paltry 2 MB to a more appropriate 250 MB (ahem, 3 months behind their promise). But according to Microsoft, not all Hotmail accounts have been upgraded (they say that it'd be done before Christmas). But really, this isnt useful to me since my Gmail already consumes 450 MB of mail... Not only that, I'm afraid that this upgrade has come way too late- I've already emptied several important mails (of cos not w/o fowarding them to my Gmail) from my Hotmail way too many times.

But, this will at least save me from deleting future emails to my Hotmail. (which now means that any email sent to my hotmail address will now be in 3 different email acounts- my Hotmail, Gmail, and the 2 GB one).

POP3 Coming to Gmail

Clicked on the Gmail's knowledge base accidentally and look what i found: pop3 access is finally coming to Gmail. Hooray for all pocketpc users and people who simply want to download all their Gmail emails to their desktop for backup.

Great Gmail Backup

Since Gmail allows you to foward all incoming emails to your Gmail to another email account, I choose Xasamail over Spymac for backing up my emails. Why? Simply bcos of it's 2GB storage limit and its resemblance to Gmail (the look only; doesnt have Gmail's Java like interface or search capabilities). Posted by Hello

This irritating message again? Geez, how many times must I empty my hotmail to keep my 2MB limit. WHEN IS MY HOTMAIL GOING TO UPGRADED TO THE PROMISED 25)MB?!@^% It's been 2 months since they've promised that upgrade... Posted by Hello
